#29- A Pat From Hashem

When we have Emunah and trust that Hashem is doing what’s best for us, although it appears otherwise, we are fulfilling one of the primary purposes we were put in this world for. Yes, it’s hard to daven for something and seemingly get negative results from our efforts. But the value of having Emunah under these circumstances is indescribable. Iy”H, we hope that we will be given the yeshuos we are anticipating, but until they come, we must utilize the opportunity to trust that Hashem is doing what’s best and continue davening and serving him, although it seems like we’re being rejected. This is what made Avraham Aveinu so great, and that is what can make each one of us great.

Sometimes, however, Hashem will give us a little chizzuk to help us maintain our Emunah until our yeshua comes. If the chizzuk comes, it’s a great feeling; if not, our efforts are worth even more!

A single in shidduchim for a while told over that as she was eating with her family this past Sukkos, some negative thoughts entered her mind. Her siblings and their spouses and children were all there, and she was the only one still not married. She started thinking about her age and how all her friends were married except her. She was all alone in her house with her parents, and things didn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. “When will I finally be out of my parent’s home with my own husband and children?” she wondered. That whole night, she was feeling jittery and couldn’t sleep. She decided to say Tehillim and cried her eyes out, begging Hashem to send her yeshua. After crying for a long time, she felt like she could use something hot to drink. She went downstairs to make herself a tea, and when she ripped the tea bag open, the string fell off. She bent down to pick it up and then saw the note attached, which read, “Be fearless! Know that all will be provided at the right time!” She then looked up and gave Hashem the biggest smile with a different type of tears, saying, “Thank you for the chizzuk! That’s exactly what I need at this specific moment!”

The following story happened to me this past summer. I was feeling pretty down about a shidduch that didn't seem to be working out and felt very rejected at the moment. “I wish Hashem would send me a message, showing that He cares about me & knows what I’m going through,” I thought. I was driving while thinking this, and a few minutes later, I came to a red light. There, right in front of me, was a pickup truck & on the back of it were the words, “God Loves You Too!”

The feeling that came over me at that moment was so amazing. It was a real pat from Hashem saying, “I’m here, don’t worry, I love you!” (As an aside, that was the one and only time that I saw that pickup truck!)

Chizuk is great, especially subtle messages from Hashem. The main thing is for us to trust him and continue serving him to the best of our ability. Then, no matter what happens, we will know we are fulfilling our purpose in this world!
