#36- Checkpoints-Part II

I spy a woman,

Walking down the street,

Her outfit is just perfect,

Her sheitel is real neat.

And do you see her kids,

Who are matching head to toe?

Each little detail,

Down to the baby’s bow!

And you should taste the gourmet meals,

That she prepares each day,

She just seems so perfect,

In each and every way.

I can never measure up,

To this woman who is so fine,

For I’ve got no sheitel or ring,

Or a husband who is mine!

Rosh Hashana is coming,

But I feel so let down,

“I thought I would be married!”

I grumble with a frown.

"I wanted to move on,

Not still be at first base!

That lady walking down the street,

She comes in first place!

She made it in life,

But me,

Not just so!"

Isn’t this the thought process,

Of so many singles I know?

But that is really not the truth,

There’s more than meets the eye,

It’s not all about externals,

But what you have inside.

Although that ring and sheitel,

You currently aren’t wearing,

That’s not all that matters,

Looks can be deceiving.

If you would take a look inside,

To see who you really are,

Not just focus on externals,

You’ll see that you have

Also gone far!

Perhaps now you’re

More caring, sensitive, mature,

Maybe your relationship with G-D,

Is different than how it was before.

You’re now more real, authentic,

Developed and strong,

So it’s not all about externals,

That outlook is all wrong!

That’s not what Hashem looks at,

To determine how you’ve grown,

He takes a glimpse inside instead,

He looks only at your soul!

So, as you reach this checkpoint,

Look within and see,

Exactly just how far you’ve come,

And say, “I am proud of me!

Right now, I am still single,

My bashert I have not met;

But that’s not because I am worthless,

Just cause it’s not my time yet!

I’ll trust in Him,

He has a plan,

Though now it’s hard to see,

I just need to remind myself,

I’m doing great;

He believes in me!"
