A mountain climber is climbing
Slowly scaling peaks
Of a large mountain
The summit he does seek.
The climb is quite difficult
The peaks are really steep
Many who have climbed before him
Have given up in defeat.
But he is determined
To make it to the top
Even as his strength is waning
He will not just stop.
He’s outfitted with the best equipment
And inside, he does know
That he will make it to the summit
He has a mission all his own.
The sun slowly starts
Making its descent
The climber is exhausted
His energy is spent.
But he will not give up
For he has a goal in mind
He will soon reach that summit
And leave these cliffs behind.
In life, we all are climbers
We each have our own peaks to scale
And sometimes the climb feels impossible
We think we may just fail.
The peaks appear too steep
The climb just seems too tough
“G-d,” we may say, “I give up,
I’m sorry, but I’ve had enough!”
In those moments, we forget
That G-d has a master plan
It’s difficult to recognize
His loving and caring hand.
But only He can see
Across the span of time
Which is why he has given us this challenge
This struggle, both yours and mine.
For each day that we put
One foot in front of the other
We’re growing stronger and stronger
We are encouraging one another.
And one day, when fellow climbers
Will reach this very peak
They’ll see that others have climbed before them
And have not given up in defeat.
So, in those moments when we feel weak
It may help to know
That G-D is watching us and saying,
“I’m so proud of how you’ve grown!
You’re such a faithful climber,
Don’t you ever stop!
When everything feels like an uphill struggle,
Just think of the view from the top!”
