#63 The Story of My Missing Airpod

Hi all!

I hope you had a wonderful Pesach and are now settling into routine.

I had an amusing incident with a lesson (obviously) that I wanted to share with you all before Pesach, but it didn't happen, so here it is now.

As you probably know, I enjoy listening to podcasts when I have free time (which is becoming obsolete by the day, lol).

A while back, I was listening to a podcast in bed and was supposed to remove my Airpod before falling asleep, but never got a chance 😴😴 . When I woke up, it was gone.

I searched the floor, around the bed, and under my blanket and pillow, to no avail. For a split second, I panicked and hoped that I had not swallowed it in my sleep (maybe I had been hungry?), although that would have been a difficult feat to accomplish. I said amar rebbe binyomin. Nothing. It was time for a thorough search.

I had a strong suspicion that it was under my bed, but due to the number of items under the bed, the search was called off (No explanation for the mini hoarding situation will be given, but let's just say that I used to teach preschool, and I am limited in the amount of space I have, so I store various items under my bed. Hope that suffices;)) For the next few months, I used one Airpod, and it was really annoying.

Finally, Pesach rolled around, and it was time to clean my room. Operation Airpod 2.0!

I slowly removed bags, books, shoe boxes, etc., from under my bed, but nothing. I continued removing items until every last item was out, and I was coated in dust and sneezing. But my Airpod was nowhere to be found. It had simply vanished. I could not think of another place where it could be, and I was really fed up.

I had searched and moved every item, which had taken a really long time. At least, if I had found the Airpod, it would have been worth it.

I began to wonder if I'd ever see my Airpod again.

And then Hashem put an idea into my mind. I went over to my mattress and pulled the sheet off.

Voila! Out flew my Airpod! (To this day, I have no idea why I didn't feel it when I went to sleep e/ night...)

I think there is a parallel between this story and the parsha of shidduchim.

We are all tirelessly seeking our missing half. We look and look, but somehow, he remains elusive. It's a feeling of frustration and annoyance that we all know too well. We may even question whether we'll ever find him and feel like giving up. But we hold onto hope, knowing that one day, Hashem will make him appear.

This story can serve as a good visualization for when things are tough, whether in shidduchim or the countless other challenges that Hashem sends our way.

Things can change in the blink of an eye, no matter how difficult it seems.

When I feel like I reached a dead end in the shidduch arena, I think of that Airpod flying out of my mattress and can't help but smile!
